Conley confident to be among top five PG in NBA

Xinhua, July 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Mike Conley, National Basketball Association (NBA) side Memphis Grizzlies player, said Saturday that he should be among the best five point guards in the league. He also gave some suggestion to Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) draft, which will see its first edition next month.

"I will be in there (top five PG)," Conley said when he participated in the "NBA Nation" activity here, "Say Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Kyrie Irving or someone like that."

Conley's team was ousted by Curry's Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference semifinals last season. The regular season MVP carried on to lead his team to win the NBA champion after beating Cleveland Cavaliers 4-2.

"Stephen had a wonderful year. He deserved everything he got, obviously MVP and championship. He did much better than me, it was fun to play against him, he is a great challenge," said the Grizzlies' point guard.

During his stay in Beijing, Conley visited some wheelchair basketball players with NBA Cares, giving him a better understanding of what these disabled players' daily life is.

"It was an eye-opening experience to visit some basketball players with disabilities. I played with them on wheelchair in the act, not all athletes can do that. I really get a better understanding of what they go through on their daily basis."

This is the second time for Conley to come to China after he participated in the brand sponsor's activities here in 2013.

"It's been an unbelievable experience. I eat a lot of good food, and meet a lot of good people. I'm very excited about being here," said Conley.

The first-year draft pick of CBA league will be held next month. As the fourth pick in NBA Draft 2007, Conley thought that each team should know who they can pick.

"The first thing is to know who you can pick, and believe in that individual and your team. Give them a chance, hopefully they can develop to what you want," said Conley. Endi
