Taxi operators charged over attacks on Uber drivers in Australia

Xinhua, October 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two cab drivers in Australian Queensland have been charged over targeted attacks on Uber drivers who operate outside normal regulations.

The duo will face a Brisbane court on Friday charged with a string of offences, including assault, stealing and unlawful entry of a vehicle.

The charges came after rising frustrations among taxi drivers that the app-based car service is operating illegally in Queensland.

Brisbane detectives have charged two local official cab drivers over assaults on Uber drivers in Brisbane, a police spokeswoman said on Friday.

The men will lose their jobs for the local taxi cab company they work for if found guilty.

Police alleged a group of five men assaulted a man before grabbing his mobile phone as he sat in his vehicle in a Brisbane suburb. Endi
