U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, in a phone call Thursday, discussed deconfliction of the two countries' operations against Islamic States (IS) in Syria.
Kerry and Lavrov "talked about the importance of moving forward towards on tactical discussions and dialogue towards the goal of de-confliction, again to avoid mishaps and misunderstandings, particularly in the air," State Department spokesman John Kirby said at a press briefing. (US-Russia-Syria)

JERUSALEM -- Israeli and Russian military officials have met in Tel Aviv to sort out a mechanism that would prevent accidents between their forces as Russia continues its operations in Syria, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Thursday.
During the past week, meetings were held between Russian and Israeli delegations, headed by the deputies of chief of staffs of both countries, the IDF said in a statement released on Thursday night. (Israel-Russia-Cooperation)

BAGHDAD -- A total of 15 people were killed and 30 others wounded on Thursday in a mortar barrage in Iraq's eastern province of Diyala and a gunmen attack in the northern city of Kirkuk, security sources said.
In Diyala, many mortar rounds landed on four districts in the provincial capital city Baquba, some 65 km northeast of Baghdad, leaving 13 people killed and some 30 others wounded, a provincial security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-Clash) Endi
