Hong Kong Customs seizes 900 grams of heroin at airport

Hong Kong Customs seized about 900 grams of suspected heroin with an estimated value of 650,000 HK dollars (about 83,500 U.S. dollars) at Hong Kong International Airport on Friday, it said.

The suspected heroin was detected in transshipment express cargo from Malaysia to Canada via Hong Kong. During the course of examination, Customs officers observed suspicious X-ray images of six placemats inside the consignment.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offense in Hong Kong. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of 5 million HK dollars. Endi
