Singapore stocks close 1.47 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 42.62 points, or 1.47 percent, to close at 2,863.81.

A total of 1.16 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 12 billion Singapore dollars (788.8 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 274 to 145, while 517 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 28.30 points, or 0.98 percent, to close at 2,906.43 on Thursday. Endi
