Cote d'Ivoire police on Aug.19 extradited seven Malian terrorists suspected of having carried out the attack on Misseni and Fakola localities near the Cote d'Ivoire-Mali border, a Malian security source said on Thursday.

Among those arrested were four officers who served under the islamic police in northern Mali town of Timbuktu during the occupation of Northern Mali by islamists between March 2012 and January 2013.

The four, the source said, were linked to jihadists who carried out a series of attacks on camps of the Malian forces and those of the UN mission in Mali.

Actively sought by the Malian police since committing the crimes, the group took refuge in Sama forest along the Cote d'Ivoire-Mali border, the source said.

Members of the group who were dislodged following a mop-up operation by the Malian forces, hid in Tingrela village where they were arrested and handed over to Cote d'Ivoire police.

According to the Malian police, the seven men were members of Halid Ibn Walid brigade under which they were trained about the use of explosives. Endit
