Top Chinese and U.S. officials wrapped up Wednesday their two-day high-level talks here with substantial outcomes in strategic and economic sectors, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
During this year's seventh China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) and the sixth China-U.S. High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE), a wide range of bilateral, regional and global issues of common concern were covered, including climate change, interaction in the Asia-Pacific region, managing differences and sensitive situations, the United Nations and multilateral affairs, science and innovation, green ports and ships, as well as fighting illegal trade in wildlife. LONDON -- Britain will step up its program of training for the Ukrainian armed forces, the British Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced Wednesday.
The move is to build on an existing program of medical, infantry, logistics and tactical intelligence training which has been offered to 650 Ukrainians since March and around 250 personnel will be trained in August alone in additional infantry, medical, and survival skills, the MoD said in a statement. BRUSSELS -- NATO defense ministers on Wednesday took key decisions on strengthening the Alliance's defense, including bolstering the NATO response force, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced at a press conference here following the meeting.
The defense ministers decided to increase the sum of NATO Response Force (NRF) personnel to up to 40,000, from the previous level of 13,000. (NATO-Defense)
