Monchengladbach snap up FC Zurich youngster Nico Elvedi

Xinhua, June 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Monchengladbach sign youngster defender Nico Elvedi from Swiss outfit FC Zurich, the "Foals" announced on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old defender agreed on a four-year contract, which keeps him until June 2014 with the "Foals".

"Nico is a great talent. We think he is capable to establish himself in the Bundesliga. He is a versatile player who brings a lot of experience for his 18 years of age. We are pleased that we were able to win him for our team," Monchengladbach's sporting director Max Eberl said.

The Switzerland Under-19 team captain made 18 first division appearances, providing one goal and assist, and five UEFA Europa League matches.

His new club completed the last Bundesliga campaign on the 3rd place of the standings to book a place for UEFA Champions League. Endi
