Tokyo shares open lower on losses in U.S. market

Tokyo shares opened lower Thursday after a rally in the previous day as sentiment here was weighed down by overnight losses in the U.S. stocks market.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 74.85 points, or 0.36 percent, from Wednesday to 20,793.18.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 7.98 points, or 0.48 percent, at 1, 671.91. Endi
