Tokyo shares opened higher on Monday on bargain hunting after last week's plunges, optimism over Japan' s economic outlook.

At 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 124.01 points, or 0.61 percent, from Friday to 20,298.25.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 8.72 points, or 0.53 percent, to 1,639. 73. Endi
