Mexican pilot Sergio "Checo" Perez, from Force India team, finished 9th in the 8th round of F1 2015 season, held in Spielberg Circuit, Austria on Sunday.
Claro-Telmex, sponsor of Perez, issued a statement saying "Checo" made a great job after he started in position 13 and finished four steps above, in position 9, in the race won for second consecutive year by German pilot Nico Rosberg (Mercedes).
"Checo" said he was happy because this result gave many points to his team, climbing place 7 to 5 in World Constructors' Championship. In the drivers' standing, Perez reached 11 points.
"I am happy for the race. There were some little problems that kept us one or two positions below, but the points are good for the team. I think we had a good team strategy. Silverstone comes after in the schedule and we are optimistic with the car improvements. We are anxious to participate," said Perez.
German Nico Hulkenberg, Perez's team partner, arrived in sixth position and reached 18 points.
Austrian Grand Prix was a good one for Latin American pilots. Besides Perez, Brazilian pilot Felipe Massa (Williams) finished third, beating German Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari).
Also, Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado (Lotus) finished in 7th place, after a tough fight against Dutch Max Verstappen (Toro Rosso), while Brazilian Felipe Nasr (Sauber) arrived 11.
This was Rosberg's third victory of the year and 11th one in F1, while his partner English Lewis Hamilton arrived in third place for the third time.
The next round of F1 season will be British Grand Prix in Siverstone Circuit on July 5. Endit
