About 40 people are being treated by medical personnel after a reported chemical leak at a holiday park swimming pool in east England, local police said Sunday.

VILNIUS -- Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli and Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius agreed here Sunday to advance bilateral relations to higher levels.

UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon announced Sunday that he has requested Abdoulaye Bathily of Senegal to offer good offices in Burundi in support of regional efforts to reduce tensions and help Burundians peacefully settle differences.

According to a statement released by Ban's spokesperson, Bathily, the Secretary-General's special representative and head of the UN regional office for Central Africa, will arrive in Bujumbura on Sunday. (UN-Burundi-Talks)

CAIRO -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi appointed on Sunday a new ambassador to Israel for the first time since 2012, official MENA news agency reported.

Sisi appointed diplomat Hazem Khairat as new ambassador to Tel Aviv to replace his predecessor Atef Salem, whom Egypt recalled in late 2012 over an Israeli deadly offensive on the Palestinian Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, Salem is appointed as new ambassador to Cuba. (Egypt-Israel-Hamas-Gaza)

TEHRAN -- Iranian lawmakers approved a bill on Sunday urging President Hassan Rouhani's administration to secure Iran's nuclear rights in a possible deal with world powers as the self-imposed deadline looms.
