Brazil beats Italy 3-0 in World League

Xinhua, June 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two days after Brazil lost its debut game against Italy, the Brazilian squad on Sunday won 3-0 against the European team in Florence, as part of the eighth matchday of FIVB (International Volleyball Federation) World League.

Contrary to what happened in Rome days ago, Brazil had a good performance with confident players who easily won with a score of 25-23, 25-22 and 25-16.

Brazil's Evando M. Guerra was the top scorer with 20 points, while Ivan Zaytsev led Italy with 11 points.

With this result, Brazilians continue leading Pool A with 18 points, followed by Serbia with 14 points, Italy with 13 and Australia with only three points.

Next week, Brazil will play the last games as visitor in Sydney against Australia.

Afterwards, the Brazilian squad will return to the South American country to face Italy once again in Cuiaba (center-west), capital of Mato Gross state, to play the last two games of group stage.

During the next games, Brazil's coach Bernardinho Rezende will be in the bench because he was suspended for 10 games by FIVB due to his criticism to the organization of 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Championship.

The final stage of 2015 FIVB World Volleyball League will be held from July 15 to 19 in Maracanazinho Gym in Rio de Janeiro (southeast), which will be venue of volleyball tournaments in Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Endi
