Pekerman supports Falcao to play in starting lineup against Peru

Xinhua, June 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Colombia's coach Jose Pekerman on Sunday said forward Radamel Falcao will play in the starting lineup in the match against Peru, despite the player's poor performance.

In a press conference held Sunday morning, Pekerman highlighted the importance of having good players such as Falcao and Jakson Martinez in the Colombian team.

"There are players who have good performance at their clubs, but we have also to consider the team work," said Pekerman referring to Falcao, one of the main goal scorers in the history of the Colombian national team.

"Out of respect for his career and as a reward for what he has given us, we have to support him and wait for his recovery," said Pekerman adding that the competition to occupy this position is fierce, but it is always healthy and in favor of the team.

With this statement, Pekerman made clear that Falcao has total support of the team's coaching staff. Endi
