A country doctor dedicated to the fight against schistosomiasis

Chinagate.cn,July 26, 2019 Adjust font size:

In the 2009-2012 period, Nanji Township launched a pilot project to control the infection source. One critical element of the campaign was to eliminate oxen used in farming. Often regarding oxen as their lifeline, some farmers were indifferent to the project, refusing to do away with their oxen. Chen Fanjing made home visits to these villagers. In response to their concerns about their elderly life, he explained the nation’s social security policies to them and promised to give them free medical treatment and daily necessities if their offspring would not support them. In the end all oxen were disposed of and the schistosomiasis-control project was implemented smoothly.
