Leverkusen's Hernandez sidelined for one game

Xinhua, February 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bayer Leverkusen's Javier Hernandez will miss the next Bundesliga game against Darmstadt due to injury, the "Werkself" announced via the club's official homepage on Wednesday.

The Mexican international sustained "a torn muscle in his left gluteal muscle" during Leverkusen 1-3 loss to Bremen in the German Cup quarterfinals. Hernandez had to be replaced in the 57th minute and will be ruled out for the away clash against newly promoted Darmstadt on Saturday.

The loss of the 27-year-old striker is a blow for coach Roger Schmidt due to the fact that "Chicharito" provided overall 22 goals since his arrival in September 2015.

The "Werkself" sit on the 5th place of the standings with a three-point gap the third place. Endit
