Senior officials commemorate late PLA general

A symposium was held Wednesday in Beijing to commemorate the centenary of late Chinese general Xiao Hua.

Xiao, who was born in 1916 and died in 1985, once served as a commander of the People's Liberation Army and vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee. He reached the rank of general in 1955.

The symposium was attended by Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, who also met with Xiao's relatives before the meeting.

Xu Qiliang, vice chairman of Military Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, said at the meeting that Xiao made "outstanding contributions" to the country.

Xu called on the people to carry on the traditions of the old generation of revolutionaries to contribute to the realization of the Chinese Dream. Endi
