Afghani foreign minister to visit China

Xinhua, January 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

Afghani Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani will pay an official visit to China from Jan. 25 to 28, as a guest of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei announced the visit at a regular press conference on Wednesday.

This will be Rabbani's first visit to China since he became foreign minister, and it will also be the first high-level visit between China and Afghanistan this year.

Both countries agree that this will be a very important visit, Hong said.

During the visit, Rabbani will meet with Chinese leaders and hold talks with Wang Yi, according to Hong.

Last year, China and Afghanistan jointly celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations as well as the Year of China-Afghanistan Friendly Cooperation, said Hong.

"We hope that through this visit the two sides could implement the consensus reached by both leaders, outline the development of bilateral ties, and boost cooperation in economic and trade, security, culture and international and regional affairs, to push forward bilateral relations," he said. Endi
