China sets new limit on fuel consumption

Xinhua, January 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

The fuel consumption standard of light commercial vehicles will be lowered from 2018 to improve energy efficiency of new vehicles, authorities announced on Wednesday.

The revised standard specifies 64 fuel consumption limits for light commercial vehicles depending on their mass and sizes.

The limit for light trucks is set at 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers at the lowest, down 23 percent from the standard set in 2007, according to the Standardization Administration of China.

China aims to cut fuel consumption of light commercial vehicles by 20 percent from 2012 levels by 2020.

China produces around 2 million light commercial vehicles annually, which use 7 million tonnes of fuel. Endi
