Selby and Bingham reach second round at UK Championship

Xinhua, November 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

Mark Selby and Stuart Bingham, the top two seeds at the UK Championship, reached the second round of the tournament with easy victories in York on Thursday.

World champion Bingham crushed Jordan Brown 6-1 while Selby, ranked No. 1 in the world, whitewashed Joe O'Connor 6-0.

Bingham, who has lost in the first round of four tournaments, finally breathed a sigh of relief: "The first three frames could have gone either way so I was happy to be 3-0 up. After that I settled down, made some good breaks and finished the match off well.

I need to tighten up because my next game will be harder. I've got good memories here having reached the semifinals in the last two years, but for now I'm not looking any further than the second round."

Selby, the 2012 champion, said: "I started off well and put Joe under pressure from the off. I knew he'd be nervous out there anyway having not been in that sort of environment very much." Endit
