Finnish company to manufacture Mercedes-Benz GLC

Xinhua, November 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

Finnish service provider for the automotive industry Valmet Automotive announced on Thursday that it will start to manufacture the Mercedes-Benz GLC cars at its factory in Uusikaupunki, southwest Finland.

Valmet Automotive has received a contract from the German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz for producing GLC-models after winning an international competitive bidding.

A new manufacturing site is needed as the main production site of the GLC in Bremen, Germany, already runs at full capacity, said Valmet Automotive in a press release.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class has been produced in Finland by Valmet Automotive Since 2013. The production of A-Class will continued in Uusikaupunki until the end of 2016.

The manufacturing of the GLC will start in Finland during the first quarter of 2017, said Valmet Automotive.

GLC is Mercedes-Benz's new model, the successor of GLK. The model was officially launched in June 2015.

Founded in 1968, Valmet Automotive is a Finnish service provider for the automotive industry, providing services in automotive engineering, vehicle manufacturing, convertible roof systems and related business services. It currently has about 2,000 employees in Finland, Germany, Poland and China. Enditem
