Germany's benchmark DAX index rises

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday rose by over 150 points and closed at 11,320.77 points.

The strong performance of some companies especially the semiconductor producer Infineon Technologies AG made investors jubilant and the blue-chip DAX index rose by 151.23 points, or 1.35 percent.

Infineon Technologies AG topped the list of risers with a remarkable 12.85 percent gain. Volkswagen AG Vz advanced by 3.53 percent. The utilities company RWE AG St added 3.21 percent. The automaker Daimler AG climbed by 3.17 percent and K+S Aktiengesellschaft, a supplier of standard and specialty fertilizers, went up by 2.82 percent.

Only three shares suffered meager losses. Beiersdorf Aktiengesellschaft, a personal care company, lost 0.48 percent.

The turnover stood at 3.38 billion euros (around 3.59 billion U.S. dollars ). Volkswagen AG Vz was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 439.4 million euros. Enditem
