Algeria urges Palestinian to form national unity gov't

Xinhua, November 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

Algeria on Thursday urged Palestinian antagonists to speed up the reconciliation process in a bid to form a government of national unity.

"Palestinians have to accelerate the formation of a strong and cohesive national unity government that would pave the way to reach the ultimate goal of the liberation of Palestine," Algeria's Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra said at a conference to commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Lamamra further reiterated his country's support for the Palestinian cause, especially the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to recover their land and establish their independent state on the borders of June 1967, with eastern Jerusalem as a capital city.

The Algerian top diplomat further called upon the Arab states and the international community to intensify efforts in a bid to review the conditions under which peace negotiations are taking place.

On Wednesday, the Foreign Minister of Palestinian National Authority Riyad al-Maliki paid a visit to Algeria, as he met with top officials and talked about the latest tensions between Palestinians and Israel. Endit
