France imposes curfew in north-central town after Paris attacks: reports

France imposed a nighttime curfew in Sens, L'Yonne, in north-central France after weapons were seized there, a daily newspaper reported on Friday.

The curfew began at 10:00 p.m. local time (2100 GMT) on Friday and will end at 6:00 a.m. (0500 GMT) on Monday, La Liberation newspaper said, citing a statement from the prefecture.

The decision to ban night traffic came after police raided houses in Sens overnight and seized "unauthorized weapons and fake documents," according to the report.

Several people were arrested during the operation, it added.

Last week, French President Francois Hollande was quick to declare a state of emergency across the country after Islamist gunmen killed at least people on Nov. 13 in coordinated attacks at restaurants, a concert hall, and a soccer stadium.

On Thursday, the French National Assembly gave the government the green light to prolong the state of emergency in the country to three months to face the terror threats. The Senate voted Friday evening in favor of the bill. Endit
