Singapore stocks close 0.56 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 16.22 points, or 0.56 percent, to close at 2,879.59.

A total of 1.54 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 90 billion Singapore dollars (1.37 billion U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 263 to 156, while 519 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 27.07 points, or 0.94 percent, to close at 2,895.81 on Thursday. Endi
