An electrocuted migrant dies in Channel Tunnel: reports

A migrant who get an electric shock died Thursday overnight in the Eurotunnel channel while trying to cross to Britain from the northern port city of Calais, according to local reports.

The man was found dead at Thursday midnight after being electrocuted while attempting to get on a shuttle in the tunnel, local media reported.

The new victim brought the death toll of migrants trying to stream to London to 10 since early June.

The dead is believed to be a Syrian refugee, according to reports.

About 3,500 migrants from Syria, Iraq and African countries are camping out the northern French city of Calais. They were risking their lives by trying to board lorries and trains heading to Britain.

France pledged to take in 24,000 refugees and called for a fairer distribution of thousands of asylum seekers across the European bloc, a proposal that most of central European states refused. Endit
