The percentage of women in Austria who work part-time continued to increase, reaching 48 percent by the end of the first quarter 2015, new statistics released Thursday showed.
The Statistics Austria figures showed an increase over the total 46.8 percent recorded during the same period in 2014, and in real figures a plus of 25,000 persons.
The statistics office said this increase in part-time positions has come largely at the expense of full-time positions that decreased 21,000 year-on-year.
The number of men working part-time sank from 11.4 percent to 11.2 percent over the same period, while those working in full-time jobs increased by 23,500.
Statistics Austria said the overall unemployment rate by international definition saw a slight year-on-year decrease from 6 percent to 5.8 percent, or 251,000 persons, by the end of the first quarter of 2015. The unemployment rate for men increased slightly, from 6.1 percent to 6.3 percent, while that for women decreased from 5.8 percent to 5.3 percent. Endit
