British FTSE 100 up 0.24 pct on Thursday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Thursday increased by 0.24 percent, or 16.47 points, to 6,846.74 points.

The London stock index continued to rise on Thursday, but the gains narrowed as Greek talks stall.

The shares of Royal Bank of Scotland rose on Thursday after British Chancellor George Osborne announced the plans to sell government's stake in the bank.

CRH's share price increased by 2.33 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. British Land Company, Land Securities Group, Tesco and Royal Bank of Scotland Group increased by 2.29 percent, 2.13 percent, 1.99 percent and 1.89 percent respectively.

Royal Mail led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 4.49 percent, followed by Vodafone Group (2.91 percent), Standard Chartered (2.06 percent), Weir Group (1.99 percent) and Johnson Matthey (1.45 percent). Enditem
