Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza on Monday officially inaugurated a modern technical and professional school constructed in the Burundian capital Bujumbura thanks to a Chinese funding worth 1 million U.S. dollars.

President Nkurunziza had an opportunity to have a guided visit in the classrooms of the school built in Kigobe residential area. Several officials including Burundian Primary and Secondary Education Minister Rose Gahiru and Chinese Ambassador to Burundi Yu Xuzhong attended the ceremony.

Yu, who is ending his term as the Chinese Ambassador to Burundi, also expressed his satisfaction for the completion of the construction of the school.

"The construction of this school was possible in the context of a convention between Burundi and China following a ministerial conference held in 2009 in the context of the Forum on China- Africa Cooperation," said Yu. According to him, China will also provide 800,000 U.S. dollars to buy other equipment that the school will need.

"This modern school will receive pupils who have completed the fundamental education. Here, they will receive modern professional training in various sectors," said Gahiru. She commended China for providing the funding for the construction of the school. Endi
