Belarus supports Syria in fighting terrorism: FM

Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei "expressed support for the Syrian people in their struggle against foreign interference and terrorism", the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said on Monday .

Makei, who paid a two-day visit to Syria for talks with President Bashar al-Assad on Feb. 8-9, "reaffirmed Belarusian commitment to the further development of comprehensive Belarusian- Syrian cooperation and the desire of the Republic of Belarus to help revive the Syrian economy after the crisis," the ministry said.

Belarus ratified its willingness to contribute to the recovery of the Syrian economy in the post-conflict period, fostering investments and business relations, it added.

According to the official press release, during the two-day visit, the two sides signed a package of documents, including an agreement in the area of customs and another about collaboration between the ministries of Emergency Situations as well as an exchange protocol in legal issues, in the civil and criminal scopes.
