British FTSE 100 closes slightly lower on Monday

FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, Monday decreased by 0.24 percent, or 16.29 points, to close at 6,837.15 points.

Fresnillo's share price increased by 4.19 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. Glencore, Anglo American, BG Group and Tullow Oil increased by 3.84 percent, 3.36 percent, 3.01 percent and 2.90 percent respectively.

Shire led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 3.48 percent, followed by RSA Insurance Group (3.37 percent), United Utilities Group (3.12 percent), Land Securities Group (2.30 percent) and GKN (2.26 percent).

The index has gained 4.26 percent so far this year when measured in U.S. dollar. Endit
