German benchmark DAX index loses 1.69 pct on Monday

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday declined by 1.69 percent and closed at 10,663.51 points.

Investors became worried about the scenario of Greece leaving the euro zone and the conflicts in Ukraine and decided to take profit, driving the blue-chip index down by 182.89 points, the German business daily Handelsblatt reported.

LANXESS AG, a specialty chemicals company, advanced the most by 2.2 percent. Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. climbed slightly by 0.19 percent. Linde AG, an industrial gas company and Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA, a health care group, went up by 0.12 percent.

Continental AG dropped the most by 4.27 percent, followed by BMW AG St with a 4.07 percent decrease. Volkswagen AG Vz slipped by 3.15 percent. Deutsche Lufthansa AG lost 2.92 percent. Infineon Technologies AG, a semi conductor producer, slid by 2.92 percent.

The turnover stood at 4.32 billion euros (around 4.89 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 403.56 million euros (around 456.5 million U.S. dollars). Endit
