Indian stocks jumped by nearly 180 points in early trade Friday due to rallying in all sectors.

The BSE benchmark index Sensex was trading at 27,454.35 points, 179.64 points or 0.66 percent up from the previous close of 27,274. 71 points two hours after opening of session.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market closed 1.5 percent higher on Friday in its strongest one-day rise in almost three weeks.

At the official market close the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was 84.1 points, or 1.56 percent, higher at 5,465.6, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 80.7 points, or 1.51 percent, at 5,440. 1.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Friday up 0.13 percent against the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 1.76 points to 1,405.13. A total of 123,800 shares worth about 745 million Lao kip (about 92,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher on Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) jumped 20.05 points, or 1.05 percent, to 1,924.70 at the close. Trading volume stood at 305.1 million shares worth 4.25 trillion won (3.9 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks ended slightly higher Friday following gains by U.S. and European stocks, but profit taking ahead of the release of U.S. jobs data diminished some of the market's earlier gains.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 30.63 points, or 0. 18 percent, from Thursday at 17,197.73.

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed down 0.24 percent on Friday with the weighted index down 22.45 points at 9,215.58.

SHENZHEN -- The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 11,324.76 points on Friday, down 1.22 percent.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.48 percent higher on Friday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 35. 09 points to 7402.72. The all-share index went up by 15.01 points, or 0.35 percent, to 4336.90.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 569.73 points on Friday, up 16.26 points, or 2.94 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 107.474 million shares worth 1.874 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (87.33 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 146 stocks went up, 68 stocks fell down, while 68 stocks remained unchanged.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 84.42 points, or 0.35 percent, to 23,919.95 points on Friday.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 85.65 points on Friday, up 1.54 points, or 1.83 percent, against the previous trading session.

A total of over 55.72 million shares worth 737.44 billion Vietnamese dong (34.95 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Friday, an increase of 27.56 percent in volume and 25.08 percent in value.

TOKYO -- The Nikkei stock index added 0.18 percent on Friday as investors remained confident that central banks around the world will continue to underpin markets, but profit taking here in later trade on concerns of continued swings in oil prices and ahead of key U.S. jobs data, coupled with a comparatively firm yen, ensured gains were capped.

The Nikkei 225 added 30.63 points to close the week at 17,197. 73, while the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 2.91 points, or 0.21 percent, to finish at 1,380.58.

MUMBAI -- Indian stocks closed higher Friday with the BSE benchmark index Sensex closing at 27,458.38 points, 183.67 points or 0.67 percent up from the previous close of 27,274,71 points.

The rally was led by gains in metal, healthcare and IT stocks amid a firming trend at other Asian markets.
