Singapore business delegation to visit India

Xinhua, January 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

A business delegation led by Singapore's Second Trade and Industry Minister S Iswaran will be in India from Saturday to Tuesday to boost ties and explore new business opportunities, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said on Friday.

Iswaran is scheduled to speak at the opening of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2015 in Ahmedabad on Sunday, where Singapore is a first-time Partner Country at the summit.

He is also scheduled to call on India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel.

He will then fly to Hyderabad to meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Monday. Singapore is assisting in the development of Andra Pradesh's new capital city, and both sides will discuss the partnership in producing a master plan.

The delegation would also include senior officials and about 70 business representatives across 40 companies from the urban solutions, construction, logistics and information technology sectors.

Singapore is India's largest trade and investment partner among the Southeast Asian nations. Total trade between the two countries stands at over 25 billion Singapore dollars (about 20 billion U.S. dollars) per year, according to trade promotion agency International Enterprise Singapore. Endi
