Halep into final, Kvitova out in Shenzhen

Simona Halep cruised past Chinese rising star Zheng Saisai while resurgent Swiss Timea Bacsinszky overcame Petra Kvitova for the equal-biggest win of her career at the Shenzhen Open semifinals here on Friday.

Top-seeded Halep, who bagged two easy victories after edging German rising star Annika Beck in first round, had no hesitation to stop dark horse Zheng Saisai in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

"It's difficult to play someone for the first time, but I think I did a good job today," said Halep.

Second seed Petra Kvitova appeared to be a little lazy in the afternoon sunshine while her opponent Bacsinszky was devastating on serve, holding nine of her 10 service games. Struggling on her serve, however, Kvitova made a series of easy mistakes, losing the match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.

"It was a tough match. I didn't play my best, and I missed some steps. Bascsinszky played well. I had a few chances to break, but she served well," said Kvitova, who will fly to Sydney on Saturday to prepare for the Australian Open. Endi
