Xinhua, January 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Cambodian Council of Ministers, or Cabinet, on Friday approved a draft law on disaster control with an aim of effectively responding to either natural or man-made disasters.

"The draft law is aimed to effectively control either natural or man-made disasters through preparedness, mitigation, and timely response," said a statement released after the cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Hun Sen.

"It also states measures for rehabilitation after disasters".

The draft law, compiled by the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), will be submitted to the National Assembly to be passed.

Cambodia suffers from flooding disasters every year. According to the NCDM, floods killed 168 people in 2013 and 45 in 2014. Endi
