Singapore stocks close 1.12 percent lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Tuesday with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 36.5 points, or 1.12 percent, to close at 3,227.71.

A total of 2.26 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.40 billion Singapore dollars (996.33 million U.S. dollars). Decliners outnumbered gainers 292 to 172.

The STI index gained 8.92 points, or 0.27 percent, to close at 3,264.21 on Monday. Enditem
