The following are news items in South African major news outlets on Tuesday.

-- From Tuesday until June 1 there will be little rest for parliamentarians as every government department's budget will be presented and debated.

The process will culminate with one of President Jacob Zuma's yearly addresses to the National Assembly on May 31. He will lead the six-hour-long debate on the presidency's budget. The next day he will respond to the debate. (News24)

-- Electricity utility Eskom CEO Brian Molefe and South Africa's stalled nuclear procurement program will feature prominently at the African Utility Week in Cape Town from Tuesday.

All eyes will be on Molefe, who returned to the Eskom hot seat on Monday and who is expected to open the conference with a keynote address. (Fin24)

-- Opposition parties say they are optimistic that the Constitutional Court will rule in their favour after arguing their case for a secret motion of no confidence vote in President Jacob Zuma.
