The following are the news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Tuesday.

-- President Uhuru Kenyatta is seeking an additional 3.59 billion U.S. dollars loan from China to extend the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Naivasha to Kisumu, pushing the total cost of the pet project to 8.2 billion dollars.

The money will finance the construction of the third phase of the SGR, a 270km-line between Naivasha and Kisumu. According to the government, the SGR train tariffs will adequately cover the cost of the loan. (Daily Nation)
