USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier leaves Japan for patrol: ministry

Xinhua, May 16, 2017 Adjust font size:

The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan on Tuesday left its port home of Yokosuka, south of Tokyo, to begin a patrol, the Japanese Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier had been scheduled to leave Yokosuka on Monday but its departure was delayed due to mechanical issues.

The USS Ronald Reagan is the ninth ship of her class.

In October 2015, USS Ronald Reagan replaced the USS George Washington as the flagship of Carrier Strike Group Five, to become the only forward-based carrier strike group home-ported at Yokosuka in Japan as part of the United States Seventh Fleet. Endit
