Tie Feiyan, born in August 1992, is a deputy to the 12th National People's Congress (NPC). Tie, of the Hui ethnic group, works as a toll collector for the toll station in Xiaoxi Village of Kunming, Yunnan Province. During the past five sessions, she has submitted proposals with the topics covering left-behind children and education in rural areas. Thanks to her effort, a village school in her hometown received financial support from the government and more than 100 children have moved to new school buildings. This year, Tie suggested the central government establish files and a database for left-behind children. [Photo by Chen Weisong/China.org.cn]
