German companies to create about half million jobs in 2017

Xinhua, November 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

German companies plan to hire a total of 450,000 new employees in 2017, a poll of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) showed on Monday.

About 150,000 people are expected to be recruited in the branch of health care, nursing and education, German media Bild cited the poll as reporting.

Another 100,000 jobs will be created in the retail and catering sectors, 30,000 news jobs in the industry sector.

The year of 2017 would be the 12th consecutive year of increased hiring activities, DIHK managing director Martin Wansleben said.

"The lack of skilled labor was increasingly becoming the top risk for German companies," Wansleben said, adding that many firms want to secure qualified personnel before the enormous labor bottlenecks continue to accelerate. Endit
