Dream Football app gives young footballers chance to compete

Global digital platform Dream Portugal will give aspiring footballers worldwide the chance to be noticed, former Portuguese football legend and founder of Dream Football App Luis Figo said on Tuesday.
"The idea (of the app) is that no talent will be wasted, to have equal opportunities in football," Figo told Xinhua at Web Summit event in Lisbon, Europe's largest technology conference.
"The idea enables you, with the help of a friend or family member, to film a 2-minute video, edit it, and then upload it to the digital platform," he explained.
"Then, depending on the views you have you are analyzed by professionals and then by me, before the info about that talent is sent to our partners."
The retired footballer, who won a record 127 caps for Portugal, also said the app could bring value to the world of scouting, by "giving the opportunity to people in Japan, China and Africa who don't play in clubs or don't have the scouting circuit to be seen."
He didn't reveal investment figures but said that he wanted the platform to "grow in terms of videos" and that the next step would be a road show for investors.
Figo launched the app at Web Summit in partnership with Sony Mobile Communications.
Around 53,000 people from 167 countries expected to attend the Web Summit conference in Lisbon this year. The event ends on November 10. Endit
