Ingolstadt appoint Henke as interims coach

Xinhua, November 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

Ingolstadt have appointed Michael Henke as interims coach for the time being, the "Schanzer" confirmed in an official statement via the club's homepage on Tuesday.

The 59-year-old assistant coach will take the helm on an interims basis before Ingolstadt found a new head coach, as Markus Kauczinski was sacked on Sunday due to poor results.

"We are working hard to find the right coach for us," Ingolstadt's CEO Harald Gaertner said. "Until then, we have found with Michal Henke the optimal interims solution as he know the clubs and the circumstances."

Under former coach Kauczinski, Ingolstadt slumped to the 17th place, which is a direct relegation spot, after suffering eight defeats and two draws in ten rounds.

Michael Henke knows the Bundesliga business, as he was already assistant coach at Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. He was also the assistant coach for Ralph Hasenhuettl in Ingolstadt but resigned after Hasenhuettl's departure to Leipzig.

Ingolstadt encounter Darmstadt at the 11th round of Bundesliga on November 19. Endit
