Albania sees TAP, Devoll HPP as main drivers of economic growth in 2017

Xinhua, November 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Albanian government expects the economy to grow by 3.8 percent in 2017 and considers two energy sector projects, Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and Devoll Hydropower, as main drivers of growth, sources from council of ministers said Monday.

In view of Albanian economy experts, the implementation of the TAP project will serve as a guarantee for foreign investors, thus providing the most significant contribution to domestic economy.

On the other hand, exports from this sector will have a major impact although their performance will depend on fluctuation of raw material prices on international market and the level of demand for these commodities, according to experts.

They said the same thing about the Devoll hydro power plant which is deemed as a landmark project in terms of attracting foreign investments in the Albanian energy sector and improving the security and stability of the country's power system.

Devoll Hydropower will develop, construct and operate hydropower plants in cascade along the Devoll River, in southeast Albania and the total installed capacity of this project will be approximately 280 megawatt, when completed in 2019. Endit
