Xinhua, November 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Polish Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Monday that Poland is a leading country as far as EU funds usage is concerned.

Morawiecki told a press conference here that Poland is the country investing the funds from the new EU financial perspective in the fastest way. The second country in such a rating is Portugal.

Last year's value of payments for Poland reached almost 1 billion euros (1.11 billion U.S. dollars).

"We're an undisputed leader," Morawiecki said. He added, however, that the governmental programs are of a model dynamics while the regional programs still need to speed up.

The deputy prime minister believed that the new EU financial perspective is beneficial for the country. He also announced upcoming investments in the construction and public administration sectors.

Jerzy Kwiecinski, deputy minister of development assessed that the EU funds might contribute more than 1 percent to the country's GDP growth this year.

The ministry said the investments made with the help of EU subsidies for years 2014-2020 include 92 km of expressway from Warsaw to Krakow, a start-up support program and the construction of subway line in Warsaw. Endit
