Xinhua, September 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

A ceremony was held here on Tuesday to officially mark the launch of a 300-megawatt thermal power plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

The power plant, located in the northern BiH town of Stanari, was built by China's Dongfang Electric Corporation and financed with the help of a 350-million-euro (390.54 million U.S. dollars) loan from China Development Bank.

High-level government officials from both BiH and China, including Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska(RS), an entity of BiH, and Chen Bo, Chinese Ambassador to BiH, attended the ceremony.

At a press conference after the ceremony, Dodik said the fact that 1,000 workers will be employed in Stanari power plant, which will contribute to energy stability of the entity, is of great significance for RS.

Chen Bo, meanwhile, said the plant is the first major joint infrastructure project between China and BiH, but definitely will not be the last one.

The investor of the project is the Britain-based Energy Financing Team Group. Enditem
