Chinese to represent Dubai in car race in China

A team of 25 Chinese entrepreneurs living in Dubai will represent the Gulf Arab emirate at the 11th edition of an annual off-road car race in China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from Oct. 1 to 6, the Dubai Sports Council announced here Tuesday.

During a media briefing, Ghazi Al-Madani, an official at the government-controlled Dubai Sports Council, noted that this marks the first time a team of Chinese athletes represents Dubai at a sports challenge in China.

Mr. Guo, team leader of Dessert Invader team consisting of four off-road vehicles, said "we are not going to represent individuals but the whole team."

He added the team will try its best to perform amongst hundreds of teams in China.

"Further than that, this is a great opportunity for our team to share the experience with Chinese peers, and fully interpret the spirit of 'Far away in distance, friendship in heart'," he said.

"We are proud that a Chinese team from Dubai will represent Dubai in the upcoming race and we will work together as this is just the beginning of more sports partnerships between the United Arab Emirate (UAE) and China," Al-Madani said.

There are over 300,000 Chinese nationals living in the UAE, roughly three percent of the total population. Endit
