The following are the highlights of Zambia's major media outlets on Thursday.

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has gone on a holiday to reflect on how to govern the country over the next five years of his term of office.

Lungu told reporters before departure for eastern Zambia's Mfuwe district for his holiday that he will use the opportunity to reflect, among them the political situation in the country as he prepares to name his cabinet. (ZAMBIA DAILY MAIL)

-- Lawyers representing Zambia's President-elect Edgar Lungu have asked the Constitutional Court to strike out portions of the petition challenging his re-election because they were scandalous and contradictory.

The lawyers said some portions should be struck out because they may prejudice, embarrass or delay the fair trial of the matter as the petitioners had invoked two distinct, conflicting and mutually exclusive provisions of the constitution. (DAILY NATION)

-- Zambia has been nominated leader of designated member states of the African region to serve on the executive board of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The decision to nominate Zambia to serve on the WHO executive board was arrived at during the 66th regional committee for Africa meeting of ministers held in Addis Ababa. (ZAMBIA DAILY MAIL) Endit
