The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Thursday.

-- As business rallied to the defence of Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan against "sinister forces" that ranged against him, Gordhan said he would not be reporting to the Hawks as summonsed, as the unit clearly had no case against him.

The renewed attack on Gordhan has sent shock waves through the investor community, causing bank and retail stocks to fall and the rand to weaken. (Business Day)
